Rate Hike

Rate Hike

A 10HP clockable burst and irregular rhythm generator. From tight mechanical bursts to organic, irregular rhythms — with full control over the parameters.

What it does

Rate Hike generates bursts of triggers and gates that you can clock to the rest of your patch. Set how many bursts, how long they last, how regular they feel, and how long each gate lasts. Then dial Regularity anywhere between front-loaded, evenly spaced, and back-loaded — or hit Random for a different sequence every time.

It's designed to live in the gap between strict drum machines and fully chaotic random generators. You decide where on that spectrum the patch lives, and you can move smoothly between them while playing.

Key features

  • Four knobs, all CV-controllable: Number of Bursts, Burst Duration, Regularity, Gate Length.
  • Four buttons: manual Trigger, Strict Duration lock, Strict Regularity lock, and Random ("yolo") mode.
  • Six inputs: Clock In, Trigger In, plus a dedicated CV input per knob.
  • Three outputs: Trigger Out, Gate Out (length-adjustable), Reset Out (fires once at the start of each sequence).
  • Regularity control — the parameter that lets you sweep from front-loaded to back-loaded burst patterns, with even spacing at noon.
  • Firmware-updatable RP2350-based design.
